General Information

DNA testing has become more and more popular over the past decade as a way to prove a biological relationship between two or more people. The most common DNA test is a paternity test  and is used to see if a man is the father of a child. Other relationship tests are used to see if you are related as sibling (brothers and/or sisters), grandparents and even aunts or uncles.

Options To Fit Your Needs

Dr’s Choice First offers a legal certified court admissible test, a non legal version and a home test. A court admissible test includes positively identifying those being tested, taking their picture and everyone signing a consent form. A home test is what we like to call a Peace of Mind test. It is used for personal knowledge only and could never be used for anything legal or official. The only difference is the paperwork involved and the need to have an official document. Both tests are equally accurate as long as the correct people are swabbed when using the home DNA test kit.

We offer a home DNA test kit much like you would purchase at a local drug store however with our kits, once you purchase the kit there are no additional fees such as shipping.

After you receive the kit in the mail and collect your own DNA samples the kit will be shipped back to the lab in the provided UPS overnight envelope.

Once you drop your kit off at UPS your test results will be emailed to you within 2-3 business days as long as there are no unusual delays in shipping or testing.

Call today (877) 355-2362 to order your Home DNA Test Kit or send us an email with your mailing address, phone number and email and we will contact you.

The most common DNA test is a paternity test and compares a man and child’s DNA to determine if he is the biological father. This test can be done with or without the mother.  The test results will come back 0% or some amount greater than 99.99%.

Other DNA Tests When Father Isn’t Available

If the alleged father is deceased, unavailable or simply refusing to be tested other members of the family can be tested to determine a biological relationship.

Grandparents

This is one of the best DNA tests to use when the alleged father is unavailable for paternity testing.  It is best to have the mother, child and both paternal grandparents however testing can be done with only 1 grandparent.  This test is accepted by social security if the father has passed away.

Testing Brother and/or Sister (Siblinship)

If you want to know if 2 children share the same mother or father but the parent in question isn’t available for testing we can compare the DNA between the 2 siblings.  It is always best to have any known parents included in the test.  We all get half of our DNA from our mothers and the other half from our fathers.  Whenever possible we want have at least one known parent to include in a siblingship however it is not a requirement.

Testing an Aunt or Uncle

An avuncular test can compare a child’s DNA to an alleged aunt or uncle to see there is enough DNA in common to determine their relationship.

AABB Accredited Immigration DNA Testing

The US Embassy, Consulate or USCIS office may require a DNA test to prove a biological relationship for your immigration case.  Our AABB accredited lab can coordinate the entire process of DNA collections, domestically and internationally.

  • To begin please provide your paperwork from the department requesting a DNA test that shows your case number, tested parties names and the type of relationship to be tested.
  • Next the lab will contact the person in the US to be tested first.
  • Then a DNA kit will be sent to the foreign requesting office and they will set up a DNA collection for the beneficiaries.
  • After all the DNA samples are returned to the lab testing will begin.
  • 2 business days later the lab will send a certified report to the requesting office and the petitioner in the US.
